If I had done my research sooner rather than later, I would have known that grow lights are more energy efficient than traditional light fixtures, and that not all light is created equal. I thought to myself “if my plants need more light, then I’ll leave the room lights on while I’m at work.” This was very effective… at burning a hole in my wallet as my house plants continued to die. I’ll admit that I was initially skeptical of grow lights, did not want to spend the money, and honestly couldn’t find one even remotely stylish, so I really was not about to spend the money on an ugly grow light. With the wrong plant light, your little (or not-so-little) house plant will either not be able to make the energy it needs to sustain itself OR with too much light, the indoor plant will become sunburnt and dry up. Simply put, plants use a process called photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of yummy sugars. Like most living organisms, light is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for house plants and plant care! Without the proper plant light conditions, your house plants are certainly headed for demise.
